Otaku-san

As the day passes on, I realized that I've gotten more and more dependent on the existence of a home PC. After experiencing the run in last weekend with the faulty PC, and a three day reinstallation from ground up, during those days, I have found myself lying on my back, on my bed, wondering what I can do in my spare time.

That's the most unimaginable thing about it. I had spare time.

I've discovered that without a working PC, I had nothing much to do at home. Normally on weekdays, my routine consists of waking up from bed, taking a shower, scrambling to catch the ride to the office. After a 9 hour job, I come home, turn the pc on, put on some music, and proceed to surf around until dinner comes. Afterwards, I head off and surf some more, talk to my bf over the net, turn off the monitor and hit the sack. On weekends, I just perpetually turn on the pc and still surf the net, reading fanfictions of my favorite tv shows, read some blogs, check the news to see what's going on in the world, and check out the weather. Its funny because I check the weather, yet I seem to be eternally staying indoors. Before it was a ploy to get myself to spend less, but now, it seems to have evolved into something else. To my horror this weekend, I realized that have become a zombie - an original definition of otaku before "otaku" became synonymous to anime addict.

Never would I have imagined that I would come to the point of realizing that I had absolutely no idea what to do on my spare time. Even the experience of having some spare time was a revelation. I haven't been this free since... since.... I can't even remember anymore.

This is going to be a MAJOR problem.

Hmm....

A number of US firms designate "no-computer" days: Workdays where no employee is allowed to turn on a computer despite still being required to go about their daily tasks. While this has drastically reduced these companies' dependence on computers, the rise in employee free time has been duly noted as well.

My house has one computer that I end up sharing with two siblings, and as a result I usually delve into hobbies that don't require computer use. I find games nice, and every now and then I doodle on a sketch pad or scribble on an empty notebook. I'm sure that you read books and watch movies as well, so I don't think that you're under the threat of being completely idle. :)
